MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An investigation is underway after a social media post showed a student carrying a decoy weapon on campus, according to the Sharyland Independent School District.
The administration at Sharyland Pioneer High School was alerted of the social post Wednesday showing a student in a campus restroom holding the weapon.
"We believe the student obtained the decoy from a law enforcement classroom," Sharyland ISD administration stated in a media release.
The administration says the decoy weapon is a training tool strictly used for instructional purposes.
"We can confirm there is no threat to the safety of our students and staff," the administration said.
Sharyland ISD encourages students to report concerns or suspicious activity to a trusted adult or campus staff member.
"Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to ensure the safety and security of our Sharyland ISD community," the administration continued.
The identity of the student was not released.
