Sexual assault suspect arrested at Brownsville restaurant, authorities say

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A 61-year-old man was arrested at a Brownsville restaurant on a warrant for sexual assault, authorities said.

Ruben Garcia was arrested on an outstanding warrant for sexual assault after allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old in August 2023, a news release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office stated.

The release stated that investigators had made several attempts to locate and apprehend Garcia since October 2023, but were unsuccessful.

On March 22, investigators located Garcia at a local restaurant, where he was arrested and transported to the Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center. Authorities did not specify which restaurant he was arrested at.

Jail records show his bond for the sexual assault charge was set at $40,000.
