San Juan teen accused of stabbing officers charged

An 18-year-old San Juan man on Thursday was booked into the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center over allegations he stabbed three police officers on Tuesday evening.

Enrique Martin Ayala is charged with three counts of attempt to commit capital murder of a peace officer, a count of aggravated robbery and a count of resisting arrest, search or transport.

He received a total of $3,255,000 in bonds.

The incident happened at about 7 p.m. in the 400 block of Cancun Lane, San Juan Police Chief Leandro Sifuentes said previously.

Police had been called to the location for a report of family violence.

Sifuentes said previously that the officers were OK and recovering.
