ROMA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A daycare owner in Roma was arrested and charged with injury to a child, according to court documents.

Marielva Garza, the owner of Kids Corner Daycare, was arrested last week on allegations of physically abusing a child at the daycare.

Court documents show the report regarding the child abuse was made to the Roma Police Department on Monday, October 15.

According to an affidavit obtained by ValleyCentral, a parent filed a report in regard to her daughter being abused by her care takers at the daycare.

A second parent who has her son in the same daycare obtained a video from her son's cell phone which shows the first parent's child being abused by Garza.

Garza was said to to be yelling at the young girl in Spanish saying "callate el osico" and "ya estas llorando y todavia no te pego," the document states.

Moments later in the video, Garza then slapped the girl twice on the right hand, according to the affidavit.

The document indicates the video was recorded on September 5, but reported to police upon discovery on October 15.

Remarks from the City of Escobares Municipal Court stated Garza was prohibited from having contact with the child victim or any other children from the daycare during the legal proceedings.

Garza was formally charged with injury to a child/elderly or disabled individual, a third-degree felony.

Her bond was set at $25,000.
