Rio Hondo City Manager arrested on charges of tampering with evidence, improper influence

RIO HONDO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Rio Hondo City Manager Benancio Medina has been arrested, authorities say.

Chief William Bilokury confirmed to ValleyCentral that Medina was taken into custody based on warrants for two counts of tampering with evidence with intent to impair and two counts of improper influence.

ValleyCentral reached out to Mayor Gus Olivares for comment on what these charges are in relation to.

However, Olivares declined comment and referred any questions regarding Medina top the law firm of Denton, Navarro, Rodriguez, Bernal, Santee & Zech, P.C.

Medina remains jailed on his charges.
