WESLACO, Texas – The Rio Grande Valley Partnership is promoting a new website that supports the construction of liquefied natural gas export terminals at the Port of Brownsville.

The website address is: StandWithRGLNG.com

The Partnership points out that residents visiting the website can learn more about an August 6 decision by the U.S. D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals to vacate and remand the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) reauthorization order.

“Community stakeholders need to understand the potential impacts this decision could have on the Rio Grande Valley and infrastructure projects across the nation if the ruling is upheld and construction on RGLNG at the Port of Brownsville is stopped,” RGVP states, in a press release.

“Learn more by visiting StandWithRGLNG.com.”

RGVP says the new website contains updates on the appeals process, news articles, and testimonials from leaders from across South Texas and beyond including words of support from Cameron County Judge, Eddie Treviño, Jr.

“We encourage you to visit the website and share it widely to ensure your networks are kept up to date about this unprecedented court decision,” RGVP states. “And if you support the RGLNG project, let your social media network know that you #standwithrglng.

Here is the testimonial from Cameron County Judge, Eddie Treviño, Jr., on the website:

“As Cameron County Judge, I have prioritized improving our residents’ lives through diverse economic growth, job creation, and increased social and educational opportunities.

“I am committed to working with Rio Grande LNG to continue enhancing their environmental commitment to achieve a balance between the future success of our county and its residents and protecting and strengthening the natural beauty of our region.

“Cameron County is the 13th largest county in Texas and is considered an area in persistent poverty. With an investment of $18.4 billion and an expected $136.9 million in tax revenue, phase 1 of the Rio Grande LNG project will provide lasting economic security with more job opportunities, higher wages, and increased infrastructure.

“The Rio Grande LNG project, spearheaded by NextDecade, has already made a significant positive impact on our community. Currently, 1,500 families are benefitting from employment with Rio Grande LNG. 70% of their workforce is made up of our own Cameron County residents, and 60% of their vendors are local businesses with thousands more jobs being created by the project in the coming months and years.

“This level of local involvement is a testament to the project’s commitment to our community. If this project is halted by the recent D.C. Circuit Court decision to vacate Rio Grande LNG’s FERC Order, it will have a devastating and negative impact on our community.”
