Remarkable Women: Della Perez

2 months ago 70

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — ValleyCentral is celebrating Remarkable Women in the Rio Grande Valley.

These women inspired, led and made a difference within their communities. ValleyCentral's Sonya Hill highlights the first of four women who were selected as finalists for our Remarkable Women contest.

While working as a court-appointed attorney with families through child protective services, Della Perez felt there was a lack of sufficient services and resources for families affected by domestic violence.

"I got a group of friends together and I said you guys this is what I'm dealing with, this is what I'm up against every day and I'd like to help, instead of complaining about it, you know, you've gotta kind of do something about it.," Perez said.

That led her to found her non-profit, Angels of Love in 2010. They offer resources such as parenting and financial literacy classes to legal aid and support groups for women, children and families of domestic abuse.

"There are so many things we want to do and so many other services we want to be able to offer," Perez said. "We just hope that anyone out there who's watching this story, who's moved or touched by it would want to reach out and help us in some way, or donate, help us get to the next level, the more people that are helping us, the more victims we can help. "

Perez not only runs Angel's of Love but she is also a practicing attorney and a pageant coordinator, who teaches young ladies poise and gives them confidence.

"We just try to teach young ladies through the pageantry world that um, we empower them, we want them to be the best, beautiful version of themselves they can be," Perez said. "By leading them along the right path we hope that they won't ever end up in any kind of they won't ever be a victim of domestic violence or violence."

Perez is a Remarkable Woman and an angel who shows victims of violence love when they need it the most.

"We want to show, especially victims of violence or domestic violence that there are people out there that love them, it may not be your significant other but there are people out there that love you and care about you and are willing to help you," Perez said.

You can donate to Angels of Love through their website or by attending their fundraiser events. If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence seeking help contact Angels of Love at (956) 972-0685.
