PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A 23-year-old Pharr woman died over the weekend in a hunting incident, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Late Friday, Nov. 15, Texas Game Wardens responded to a shooting incident in Kenedy County.
The victim of the incident was identified as Hailey Jasso from Pharr.
Jasso was transported to a nearby hospital where authorities say she was pronounced dead.
The Texas Rangers and Game Wardens are working together to investigate this incident.
An obituary posted by Memorial Funeral Home states Jasso, who was born in McAllen, worked as a Registered ICU Nurse at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Throughout her nursing journey, she was honored with multiple DAISY Awards. According to her obituary, Jasso had a great love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Ramiro Jasso.
Jasso is survived by her parents, Juan "Tony" Jasso and Vianey Farias Jasso; a sister, Gabrielle Castillo (husband Anthony Castillo); a brother, Mathew Aiden Jasso (Kayla Rodriguez); her maternal grandparents, Jose Adan Farias and Diana Garza Farias; paternal grandmother, Ninfa Aguirre Jasso; and a niece, Penelope Mae Castillo.
