Region One, TSC offer hands on learning for plumbing careers

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Rio Grande Valley students on Tuesday gathered at Texas Southmost College in Brownsville to learn about careers in plumbing.

Hosted by Region One Education Service Center, the program offers hands-on learning in high-demand skills, such as plumbing, to bridge the gap between education and employment.

"We're looking for what is on-demand currently here in our region, and we're providing those opportunities to the students in learning on the job, type of skills that they can learn directly from professionals in the in these industries. There is a high demand for plumbing in our area, and there is an increasing need for plumbing to service the community in this specific area," said Brenda Balderas, Region One Education Service Center College and Career Specialist.
