EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Region One hosted a summit to uncover the latest insights and trends in public education.

The summit was part of Region One's role as the Tri-Agency Regional Convener for Workforce Development Area 23-Lower Rio, overseeing high-quality career and education pathways in Starr, Hidalgo, and Willacy Counties.

The Regional Convener aligns strategies with labor market demands across targeted industries, such as healthcare, education, government, and information technology.

"It is our goal over the next year to bring together educators to address the education shortage, teacher shortage here in the Rio Grande Valley. That's a nationwide shortage, as well as government and law enforcement," said Bobbie Sue Gonzalez, Director of College and Career School Models.
