BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Residents who live near the Milwhite plant in Brownsville are wondering when a judge will make a decision on the future of the company.

Judge Sanchez has yet to make a ruling following the hearings earlier this year.

The City of Brownsville wants the company to shut down if Milwhite does not improve conditions and stop dust from affecting the health and property of residents.

Residents are concerned the delays will allow Milwhite to avoid penalties.

The company was set to complete a wall on the north end to block dust from entering neighborhoods.

Sanchez says the company has neglected to do so until the most recent lawsuits were filed.

“This wall that you see behind us, that’s something that started back in 2009, so that tells you that the issue has been happening since past 2009," said Resident Adhlemy Sanchez.

Adhlemy says she and the neighbors were told the judge’s decision would be April 8th.

The judge said a ruling would take time due to the complexity of the case.
