Raymondville ISD launches STEM summer learning and sports camp

RAYMONDVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) —The Raymondville Independent School District announced a STEM summer learning program and sports camp.

The summer program allows students of all ages to have hands-on, fun and engaging learning experiences.

"We are offering activities for the entire summer, teachers will be providing a rotation throughout the program so students can stay active this summer," said Benjamin Clinton, Superintendent of Raymondville ISD. "From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., parents will have a place to keep their children engaged and keep on learning over the summer."

The STEMtastic Summer Program and Sports Camp schedule is included below:

  • Sports Camp schedule will take place for students in first through fifth grade from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 10 to June 28 at the Raymondville Early College High School.
    • Students can participate in activities such as swimming, baseball, softball, soccer, golf, tumbling, volleyball, basketball, dance, and cheerleading.
  • STEMtastic Summer Program will be available for students in sixth to eighth grade from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 10 to June 28 and July 8 to July 19 at the Myra Green Middle School.
    • Programs offered will be in partnership with Region One and will include a variety of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
  • STEM Summer program will also be offered for students in the ninth to 12th grade and will take place at the Raymondville ECHS campus.
    • Students will be able to participate in STEM activities that will help them explore college and career pathways, and engage in reading and math instruction, credit recovery options, TSI camps, and dual enrollment opportunities.

Clinton added that once the Sports Camp for elementary students has concluded, students will then be transferred to Pittam Elementary and LC Smith Elementary from July 1 to August 2.
