HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Whether you live in the upper or lower Rio Grande Valley, chances are you saw rainfall this Labor Day weekend. For better or worse, our meteorologists say this is just the beginning.

The entire Rio Grande Valley can expect to see inches of rain over the next week.

Over the next couple of days, the best times to go for a walk or do outdoor activities will be in the mornings, as those may be the only times it will be dry.

Keep your rain gear and waterproof shoes handy for the next couple of days as the Valley will be experiencing elevated rain chances though Monday.

General thunder storms are expected across the Valley until Thursday.

Up to seven inches of rainfall are expected to accumulate in some areas of the Valley over the next seven days.

Those who live in areas prone to flooding should prepare for some significant rain.
