WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The District 31-6A title hangs in the balance on Friday night when PSJA and Weslaco collide in our Game of the Week.

Both programs enter the match up at Bobby Lackey Stadium with 5-2 overall records on top of 2-0 records in district play.

The Panthers are new to District 31-6A this season, but they are reigning champions from a season ago when they were a part of District 32-6A.

Weslaco started off the 2024 season sluggish, dropping their first two games. Since then, they've rattled off five straight wins, including a big 55-21 victory vs. Edinburg North in Week 8.

Meanwhile, PSJA has outscored its district opponents 70-13. Their offense, led by one of the Rio Grande Valley's leading passing yards leaders, Myles Lopez, averages 30 points per game.

The Bears are also coming off a big district win in Week 8, routing Edinburg Economedes 42-7.

We expect a high-scoring affair from both teams on Friday night.

Kickoff from Bobby Lackey Stadium is set for Friday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m.
