HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A woman has been arrested for her involvement in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a 71-year-old woman, police say.
Jennifer Banda, 32, is charged with collision involving death, tampering with evidence and false report, according to a news release from the Harlingen Police Department.
On Jan. 10, authorities responded to a hit and run on the 300 block of North Bus. 77.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was hit by a vehicle that immediately drove away from the scene following the accident.
According to the release, the accident resulted in the victim's death. She was later identified as 71-year-old Aida Garcia.
Harlingen investigations were working on the case, following up on leads and examining evidence. On Jan. 17, they arrested a woman, identified as Banda, in connection with the incident.
Banda was issued a total bond of $171,000.
