The woman told police that her ex-boyfriend, identified as Carranza, had assaulted her throughout the night.

She told officers that Carranza went to her residence unannounced, stating that he was there to pick up some of his belongings. While she waited in her living room on her phone, Carranza allegedly yanked it away and broke it.

He then dragged her by her hair and punched her in the face repeatedly, the release stated. He then dragged her into her bedroom where he continued to assault her, including whipping her with an extension cord.

"Carranza did not allow the victim to leave her bedroom and continued to assault her throughout the night," the release stated.
