PD: La Joya man fatally electrocuted while trimming trees

LA JOYA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man was fatally electrocuted while trimming trees at a local church, authorities say.

At 9:34 a.m. La Joya Police Department received a call of a man being electrocuted at the 900 block South Leo Avenue.

According to La Joya Police Department Lt. Manuel Casas, a witness reported that the man was trimming trees on a ladder with a pole saw when the saw touched the power lines near the trees

The man, identified as 54-year-old Vicente Morgado of La Joya, was electrocuted and pronounced dead at the scene.

AEP was called to the scene to shut down the power lines so first responders could assist the victim.

Mission and McAllen Fire Department also arrived to assist the La Joya Fire Department.
