HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Harlingen man was arrested for allegedly firing a gun, and holding people against their will.
Johnathan Andrew Vega, 36, was arrested on six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of unlawful restrain expose to bodily injury, a news release from the Harlingen Police Department stated.
At 5:53 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of N. 25th Street in Harlingen in reference to a shooting. There, they detained Vega who was in possession of a firearm, police said.
An investigation revealed that Vega displayed the gun during an assault, and discharged it into the air, police added.
"Mr. Vega allegedly unlawfully restrained the vehicle occupants by preventing them from leaving," the release stated.
His bond was set at $170,000.
