PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized $2.4 million of alleged methamphetamine hidden inside a shipment of limes.
The meth was seized Friday at the Pharr International Bridge.
CBP officers and the canine team inspected a tractor trailer making entry from Mexico, extracting a total of 960 packages of meth.
The officers say the packages weighed a total of 268.9 pounds and had a street value of approximately $2,404,300
"Our CBP officers continue to safeguard America’s border by keeping harmful narcotics off our streets,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez.
Homeland Security Investigations initiated a criminal investigation.
