A 29-year-old Mercedes man on Tuesday was sentenced to 10 years probation on two counts of aggravated robbery for a home invasion in 2019 where his brother was shot to death in rural Weslaco.
As part of a plea deal, the murder charge against Noel Alvarado for the death of his brother, Emmanuel, was dismissed, court records show.
Emmanuel was killed on Dec. 3, 2019 during a shootout with 31-year-old Johnothon Gonzalez at a residence located at 9920 N. Saltillo Circle in rural Weslaco.
Noel, Emmanuel, Juan Jesus Hernandez, 27, Martin Torres Perez Jr., 28, and Isidro Rubiel Juarez, who was 31 at the time, were attempting to rob Gonzalez of drugs.
In January, all charges were dropped against Torres due to insufficient evidence.
The murder charge against Hernandez was also dismissed as part of a plea deal on Tuesday and like Noel, he was sentenced to 10 years probation on two counts of aggravated robbery, court records show.
Juarez was never arrested and has a warrant for his arrest. His whereabouts are unknown.
Anyone with information about Juarez’s whereabouts should call the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations Division at (956) 383-8114.
