McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Mission man spent a day in jail after allegedly recording a woman while she was using the restroom, documents revealed.
Dante Figueroa was arrested by McAllen police on a charge of invasive visual recording, jail records show.
A probable cause affidavit stated that on May 16, police responded to an office at the 7000 block of N. 10th Street in McAllen. There, a woman said she found a phone that was hidden in a basket, recording people while using the restroom.
The woman said she looked at the phone, stopped the recording and saw a man, identified as Figueroa, setting up the phone in the beginning of the video, the document stated.
Figueroa told police that he found a video of the restroom on his phone but quickly deleted it. Later in the interview, he admitted to detectives that he set up the phone in the restroom and had a "lapse of judgement," the affidavit added.
He was taken into custody and booked into the Hidalgo County Jail on May 21. His bond was set at $5,000 and he was released from jail the following day.
