McAllen police search for suspected auto theft ringleader

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The McAllen Police Department is searching for a man who is suspected of being an auto theft ring leader.

Luis Alberto Torres, 28, is suspected of being a part of multiple auto thefts that occurred in January.

Police say the following vehicles were reported stolen out of McAllen last month:

• 2021 GMC Sierra AT4
• 2021 Chevrolet Silverado
• 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
• 2020 GMC Sierra Denali 2500
• 2023 GMC Sierra Denali 2500

Torres faces five counts of theft and one count of engaging in organized criminal activity.

Police say Torres has black hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 155 pounds.

Torres' last known address is in Matamoros.
