McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral)—The McAllen Holiday Parade is less than 48 hours away and the City of McAllen let ValleyCentral know what to expect for the big day.
The parade's opening extravaganza and fireworks show will begin at 5 p.m. A performance from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley band and balloon vuelta spinoff will kick off the parade.
A new addition to the parade will be its trompitos, little lighted floats covered up to look like animals that are a part of the South Pole Illuminated Festival.
"The trompitos are these little lighted floats, we have one that's like a bumblebee, and a snail," said City of McAllen manager of sales and events, Julie Reyes.
You can watch the parade on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. on NBC 23. Our coverage on ValleyCentral.com and KGBT 4.1 begins at 5 p.m.
