Man 'upset' due to break-up strangles ex-girlfriend

LOS FRESNOS, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Deputies arrested a man who assaulted his ex-girlfriend for ending a four-year relationship, according to the Cameron County Sheriff's Office.

Rolando Juarez, 42, has been charged with assault that impeded breathing and circulation of another person.

On Sunday, authorities responded to the 32000 block of Ebony Road in Los Fresnos after a concerned neighbor called in reporting a woman yelling for help.

At the scene, a woman reported to deputies she was struck in the face and strangled by Juarez, who was described as "upset" due to a break-up.

According to a release from CCSO, the woman showed visible signs of assault.

The woman added Juarez allegedly attempted to grab her cell phone and pushed her to the ground causing injuries to her forehead.

Juarez was transported to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center pending arraignment.
