Man indicted on murder charge for 2023 Cameron County fentanyl overdose

CAMERON COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man has been indicted on a murder charge for a fatal fentanyl overdose in 2023.

On Oct. 10, 2023 Travis Burns died as a result of overdosing on fentanyl that was delivered to him by Jeffrey Allen Heintz, 40.

Cameron County records show Heintz was originally booked into Cameron County Jail Oct. 17, 2023. He is charged with manual delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair and U.U.M.V.

Heintz is being held on a $150,000 bond.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday, however, according to County records, entered a waiver for arraignment.
