A 34-year-old man was killed after a dirt compacting machine he was operating tipped over and crushed him at a construction site in Brownsville on Wednesday.
Police said in a news release that officers and Brownsville EMS arrived at the scene at around 4:40 p.m. in response to an emergency at the construction site, located in the 5600 block of Padre Island Highway.
That’s where they found that a worker, later identified as Jose Angel Herrera Castelan, had “sustained fatal injuries after a dirt compaction machine he was operating tipped over and crushed him,” the police department said via Facebook.
Castelan died at the scene.
The Brownsville Police Department expressed its condolences to his family via social media, and did not say whether any further investigation would be conducted.
