SAN JUAN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — La Union del Pueblo Entero announced its post-election plans on Monday.

The organization wants to spread awareness about immigrant rights that could change due to President-elect Donald Trump taking office.

LUPE executive director Tania Chavez says they want to go to the capitol and speak to officials to campaign against mass deportation.

"We'll be seeing Governor Abbott at the legislative session and we'll be going to the capitol and defending and standing for our community," said Chavez. "We're here and we will stay here."

LUPE is actively seeking people who need immigration services and teaching them their rights, which could make a difference between staying and being deported.
