Local student prepares to compete at National Spelling Bee

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A local student is gearing up to compete in the National Spelling Bee competition.

Caleb Levy Giuoco is a seventh grader at McAllen Independent School District's South Middle School.

Giuoco, 13, is competing in the preliminary rounds for the National Spelling Bee.

The preliminary rounds begin Tuesday at National Harbor, Maryland. The finals will take place on Thursday night and will be aired on ION TV.
