Local group hosts Loteria Benefit Fundraiser to help save animals

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Volunteers from the Furry Friends organization stopped by the NBC23 studio today to talk about a Loteria Benefit Fundraiser.

The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 2 at the Longhorn Cattle Company, located at 3055 W. Expressway 83 in San Benito.

"We started our group to help animals when they get a rescue, transport and sometimes they need a flea and tick medication and of course spay and neutering," said Linda Gonzalez, a volunteer for the organization.

The organization also works with local shelters to save pets from being euthanized.

Tickets are on sale for $40 for the Loteria event and will include games and barbeque.
