Local churches observe Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — December 12 marks the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

The day is a cultural and religious significance that gathers millions to honor the Virgin Mary with processions, parades and church mass.

Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Brownsville is observing the holiday with a procession starting at 6 p.m.

The procession will lead toward the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Brownsville followed by a mass at 7 p.m. led by Bishop Daniel Flores.

Basilica Of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle will also honor Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe with two masses.

The first mass will begin at 5:30 p.m. It will be done in English and Spanish.

The second mass will begin at 7 p.m. and will be done in Spanish only.
