Local arcade to host Battle Dojo Tournament in Pharr

PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A local arcade is inviting the public to its South Texas Battle Dojo Tournament this weekend.

Hamm's Arcade is a Valley-owned business that has contributed to the boost of e-Sports in the Rio Grande Valley.

If you're a fan of fighting arcade games, Hamm's upcoming event is for you.

"It's a community of fighting game enthusiasts coming together to play for the gold," said Julio Hernandez, Arcade Consultant for Hamm's Arcade.

Classic games will be at the tournament including Nex-Gen games, Tekken Eight, Street Fighter and Guilty Gear Strive.

"We've been consistently doing events all over Texas," Hernandez continued.

In addition to tournaments, Hamm's Arcade offers arcade services for local conventions, city events, festivals and expos.

"If you haven't heard of any arcade that travels, that's us," Hernandez said.

The upcoming tournament will have vendors, cosplayers, food and an artist alley.

"We bring entertainment for family, friends and the community to come together," Hernandez said.

The South Texas Battle Dojo Tournament will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Pharr Parks and Recreation Center located on 1011 W Kelly Ave.

Registration for the event will begin at 2 p.m. followed by the start of the tournament at 4 p.m.
