Kettle corn is a staple snack in many carnivals, festivals, and events. For Eliud Cardenas, owner of Milo's Kettle Corn, he did not just want to create kettle corn but bring a flavorful twist to the popular treat.

Cardenas created his business in March 2023 and named it after his late beloved pup, Milo.

"In memory of him, I named it Milo's Kettle Corn, to keep him alive," Cardenas said.

"I've always liked it, I used to go to the fairs and eat kettle corn and a turkey leg and finally one day I said I've got to do something different," Cardenas said. "It's a dream of mine, I've always wanted to own a kettle corn business."

While creating his business, he knew he did not want to make just kettle corn, he wanted to have fun and create new and unique flavors.

"All the flavors are just fun to play with, you are your own mixologist, and you can combine flavors such as Watermelon and Tajin. That's a unique flavor that I carry," he said.

Watermelon Tajin is one of his most popular flavors that consists of the sweet taste of fruit added with the spice and saltiness of the Tajin seasoning.

Other flavors Cardenas has created have been inspired by his community such as the 956 kettle corn flavor.

"The 956 flavor, which is dill pickle and Takis, everybody in the Valley is eating dill pickle and Takis, it's a 956 thing," he said.

Besides going to local markets to promote his snack, he also participates in fundraisers that help the community.

"I'm really happy to help them out to raise money for their organizations," Cardenas said.

Cardenas said in the past couple of fundraisers he has received 3,000 orders in one fundraiser and over 1,800 orders in another.

He added that the large number of orders is a blessing and that the next two weeks will be busy.

"What motivates me is that I can contribute back to the kids and they can raise money through us," Cardenas said.
