LA JOYA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The La Joya ISD School Board on Wednesday evening approved the consolidation of its four early college high schools into one.
According to the district, the proposal is a way to improve graduation rates and student outcomes overall.
The four schools are La Joya High School, Thelma R. Salinas T-STEM Early College High School, Jimmy Carter Early College High School, along with the Academy of Health and Science Professions.
The four schools will now be called Jimmy Carter Early College High School. In addition, the district confirmed all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are guaranteed a place at the new consolidated school.
