Investors from India learn about CODEM’s success in attracting manufacturing to Matamoros

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Businessman René Xavier González recently gave a presentation on the work of CODEM to investors from India.

CODEM is a privately run economic development corporation based in Matamoros. Gonzalez’s company, SIDEE Construction is a member of the group.

González made his remarks at the Port of Brownsville at an event hosted by the Council for South Texas Economic Progress (COSTEP). Also making a pitch to the potential investors were Brownsville Navigation District, Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation, Harlingen Economic Development Corporation, and NovaLink.

On the same day, COSTEP also took the Indian investors to McAllen for a meeting with EDCs from the Mid and Upper Rio Grande Valley.

According to its website, CODEM has supported the most important economic projects in the region for the last 18 years. The nonprofit was “set up by local business men with the firm intention of promoting the further economic development of Matamoros and Brownsville.” The nonprofit’s objective is to “serve as a promotion, consulting and support organism that fortifies the economic and sustainable growth of Matamoros.”
