The 62-page magazine has analysis on McAllen’s infrastructure, workforce development and business environment. It also features articles on the city’s history and culture, emerging industries, and plans for growth.

MXLAN is a three-day arts and music festival celebrating young Latino culture. The 2025 festival ran from May 9-11. The event included an International Economic Summit. From the podium at the summit, Suarez praised Susie Flores, McAllen EDC’s vice president of business recruitment and retention, for coming up with the idea for McAllen Economic Pulse.

“The McAllen Economic Pulse is more than a publication. It is a strategic platform created to illuminate the economic strength and opportunities found in McAllen Texas, designed with intention and vision,” Suarez wrote, in the magazine.

“This magazine serves as a high impact marketing resource championed by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, the McAllen Economic Development Corporation and the City of McAllen. Its purpose is clear, to showcase the dynamic potential of this vibrant region and to position McAllen as a premier destination for investment, innovation and growth.”

Suarez said that through “compelling stories, data driven insights and a spotlight on key industries,” the McAllen Economic Pulse speaks directly to investors, international entrepreneurs and individuals considering relocation to South Texas.

“For businesses looking to amplify their reach, advertising in this publication offers direct visibility to influential decision makers in sectors such as real estate, manufacturing and international trade sectors where McAllen is experiencing remarkable momentum.”

Suarez added: “This magazine exists to tell McAllen’s economic story and to invite you to become part of it.”

Full Circle

In addition to her welcome remarks, Suarez also wrote about the new partnership between McAllen EDC and the McAllen Chamber. The column was titled: “A Full Circle Commitment to McAllen’s Growth.”

Suarez wrote: “In the late 1980s, the McAllen Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) was born out of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, establishing itself as a dedicated force for growth and job creation. Now, in 2025, these two cornerstone organizations have come full circle – reuniting their efforts to serve Main Street, small businesses, and industry with a unified mission.

“Together, MEDC and the Chamber are committed to providing vital resources for growing businesses, attracting new investment, and fostering an environment where enterprises thrive, quality jobs are created, and the entire community prospers.”
