HPD: Teen struck, killed on Harlinen frontage road 

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Harlingen police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that happened early Friday morning.

Police say just after 3 a.m. they received a report of a body found lying on the side of the road near the 2900 block of North Expressway 77 frontage road.

According to a news release from the Harlingen Police Department, authorities said the dead man appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.

The victim was identified as a 19-year-old Harlingen resident. Authorities have notified the victim's family, but will not release his identity at this time.

Authorities say there are no witnesses to the crash, and the suspect involved in the accident did not stop to render aid.

The release stated that investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the area to help determine the cause of the accident and identify the suspect's vehicle.
