HIGH CHANCE of Tropical Storm formation

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — We now have a 70% chance that the area of interest in the gulf will become a tropical depression, or even a tropical storm, over the next 2 days. This is the first high chance of development of the 2024 Hurricane Season.

If the low-pressure system reaches tropical storm strength, it will be named "Alberto."

Whether or not it becomes a named storm, we expect similar impacts. This includes high rain chances and rainfall totals over the next 7 days.

Remember, the biggest threat will be flooding and dangerous roadways.
