EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Hidalgo County is one step closer to finalizing the new courthouse project in Edinburg.
According to Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez, a request has been made to the City of Edinburg to perform a final re-inspection of the new courthouse.
The final re-inspection is expected to happen as early as next week to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy.
The certificate will then allow the county to begin opening the new courthouse for public use.
The project first broke ground in 2018. Since then, it has constantly run into inspection issues and delays.
"We have been working diligently with the City of Edinburg to address their initial
inspection concerns,” Cortez said. “We appreciate their responsibilities to ensure this building is ready for public use.”
