EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — In observance of Child Abuse Awareness Month, which is celebrated in April, the Hidalgo County Clerk’s Office hosted its annual “Go Blue Campaign.”
The campaign collected a total of $718 and was donated to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hidalgo and Starr Counties.
“I want to thank our staff and the public for donating to this important cause,” said Hidalgo County Clerk Arturo Guajardo, Jr. “We support the mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hidalgo and Starr Counties, and we hope these donations will aid in helping as many children as possible.”
In April for the last 16 years, every Monday has been designated as a “Blue Day." Employees wore their official blue County Clerk t-shirts and jeans to raise awareness for the problem.
Donation slips were placed on the counters as members of the public who were doing business at the office had the opportunity to donate toward the cause.
With the help of the public, $718 were raised in support of the cause.
