Guerra was transported to Edinburg Regional Medical Center where he died. Guera suffered from pre-existing medical conditions and was on medication.

"As per Texas Jain Standards regulations, the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office must outsource all in-custody death investigations to an outside law enforcement agency. The Texas Rangers have been called to conduct the in-custody death investigation," the release stated.
