Harlingen South Lady Hawks advance to state championship

GEORGETOWN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Harlingen South Lady Hawks have advanced to the 5A UIL State Championship title. This is the first time in school history that the softball team makes it to state.

The softball team competed against the Aledo Ladycats team at East View High School in Georgetown with a final score of 1-0.

Due to incliment weather, the playoffs were moved from Red & Charline McCombs Field in Austin to East View High School.

The Lady Hawks will be competing against the Melissa Cardinals in the championship round.

Harlingen South junior pitcher gets second chance at Final Four win

Melissa High School Cardinals punched their ticket to the championship Friday morning after defeating Lake Belton 4-0.

According to the UIL website, the state championship game will take place at the Red & Charline McCombs Field in Austin.

First pitch for the championship will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 1.
