The Harlingen Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash after a 19-year-old man was found dead early Friday morning.
In a news release, police said they received a report of a body lying on the side of the road at approximately 3:09 a.m. near the 2900 block of North Expressway 77 Frontage Road.
“Officers responded to the scene and discovered a deceased male who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle,” the release stated. “The victim, a 19-year-old male Harlingen resident, has been identified, and his family has been notified.”
Harlingen police are not immediately releasing his identity.
“There are currently no witnesses, and the suspect involved in the incident did not remain at the scene,” the release stated.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the area to determine the circumstances of the crash and to identify the suspect vehicle.
