Harlingen police investigating death of man found in canal

The Harlingen Police Department is investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a canal on Thursday.

Officers arrived at the canal area behind 1700 Bobcat Lane in Harlingen around 10 a.m. in response to a call about a dead man found in the area.

At the scene, personnel from the Harlingen Fire Department helped confirm that the male had no pulse and was pronounced dead by a justice of the peace, Harlingen police said via Facebook.

An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of death, police added.
