HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Harlingen Police Department held a retirement ceremony to celebrate Police Chief Michael Kester's last day.
Chief Kester served the department for 35 years and worked his way up the ranks until he was named Chief of Police in 2019.
"His legacy of service and leadership will remain a cornerstone of the department's values," Harlingen PD stated.
Harlingen PD added, that Chief Kester led by example, consistently prioritizing the safety and well-being of the community.
Chief Kester told ValleyCentral that during his retirement he will be doing plenty of fishing, traveling with his wife, and some home renovations.
He added that he had a great career and is proud to have served and helped his community.
