HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Grupo Frontera and McAllen songwriter and music producer Edgar Barrera had a successful night at the Latin Grammys.
The 2024 Latin Grammy Awards took Thursday at Kaseya Center in Miami.
Edinburg-based Grupo Frontera was nominated for three awards including Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album for their second studio album Jugando A Que No Pasa Nada.
At the awards ceremony, the group and Barrera, alongside Grupo Firme, won Best Regional Song "El Amor De Su Vida."
Not only did the local group take home Best Regional Song, but the Best Norteño album for their first studio album El Comienzo. Their first studio album contains the group's biggest hits, including Un x100to ft. Bad Bunny, Que Vuelvas and No Se Va-En Vivo.
It was also a big night for Barrera, who is from McAllen, as he won Producer of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.
"POR EL CONTRARIO" sung by Becky G, ft. Leonardo and Angela Aguilar, produced by Barrera was also nominated in the Best Regional Song category. However, the award was given to "El Amor De Su Vida," performed by Grupo Frontera and Grupo Firme.
Barrera was also nominated for Song of the Year for "Segun Quien," by Maluma feat. Carin Leon.
Barrera is a well-known music songwriter and producer in the music industry, who has worked with artists like Becky G, Karol G, Ariana Grande, Grupo Frontera and many more.
