RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Tejano band Grupo Frontera made a stop at the Rio Grande City Police Department to give back to their community at its annual toy drive.
The Rio Grande City Police Department, posted on social media to give thanks to the group for their generous donation to the annual tradition.
"A huge thank you to Grupo Frontera for their generous donation of toys to our annual Toy Drive! Your support is helping bring smiles and joy to children in need this holiday season," RGC PD said on its social media.
The police department added they are grateful for Grupo Frontera's kindness and commitment to making a difference in the community.
In a photograph provided by Rio Grande City PD, the group donated 14 cardboard boxes filled with toys for the toy drive.
The Tejano group is no stranger to giving back to their community any way they can.
On Oct. 6, the group decided to give an unforgettable memory to a newlywed couple and surprise them with a performance at their wedding.
“No me van a creer, pero mira, la neta, eso fue mas dificil que un concierto, pero ya vamos en rumbo pa el concierto” said Adelaido Solís, also known as Payo, on Instagram moments following the wedding surprise.
The Award-winning Mexican regional band also performed a free concert for the community on Dec. 16, 2023, at the South Pole Illuminated Festival as a Christmas gift to the Valley.
Grupo Frontera has stated they love keeping the "956" near and dear to them in performances, in their songs and in their "Valley slang."
