Grand jury declines indictment in death of Pharr boy

PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Pharr Police Department has provided an update on the incident that involved the death of 8-year-old Caleb Ramirez.

According to Pharr Police, after an in-depth investigation, the case was submitted to the Hidalgo County District Attorney's Office.

After all the evidence and circumstances examined by the DA's office surrounding the incident, the case was presented to a grand jury for consideration.

On May 29 the grand jury returned a decision of "no bill," therefore no indictment will be made, according to the department's news release.

Pharr police issued the following statement:
