BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Gladys Porter Zoo is hosting its annual Zoo Nights and Lights event Dec. 6, 7 and 8.

The family-friendly event is the brightest of the season and is presented by McDonald's. Zoo Nights and Lights will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. and offers holiday spirit and fun for guests of all ages, as well as a romantic setting for a date night.

Aside from the light displays, the zoo also has performances lined up such as bands, choirs and dance groups to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

This year, the zoo has light tunnels and a water screen. Guests will be able to participate in cookie decorating, Christmas karaoke and appearances from Santa!

Alejandra Rodriguez, Marketing Coordinator for the Gladys Porter Zoo said admission into the event is $5. However, this admission fee can be waived if you bring a toy, valued at $5 or more to be donated to the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley.

"If it's a family of four and you bring four toys, you're able to get in without paying admission," Rodriguez said.

Members of the Gladys Porter Zoo will also gain free admission.
