Gateway International Bridge to close for weekend due to Mexican presidential visit

The Gateway International Bridge will close at 11:59 p.m. Friday through Monday at 5 p.m. due to a presidential visit in Matamoros, according to the city of Brownsville.

The closure impacts all vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

“The closure is due to a scheduled Presidential visit to the Matamoros area on the Mexican side of the border. Travelers are advised to plan accordingly and seek alternate routes during this period,” the city said in an alert.
