Garza: Why the demand for warehouse space is growing in Edinburg

EDINBURG, Texas – Raudel Garza, executive director of Edinburg Economic Development Corporation, has explained why some distributors prefer to warehouse their products on the north side of the Rio Grande Valley, such as Edinburg, rather than close to the international bridges.

If they house their products near the bridges they still have to get through the Valley’s busy traffic before heading north.

Garza first made this observation at a meeting of the Greater McAllen Association of Realtors. “Not everybody wants to be near the Pharr Bridge,” he said.

The Rio Grande Guardian International News Service asked him to reprise his analysis later in an exclusive interview.

He said fast-growing Edinburg needs a lot more warehousing space.
